New Year's Resolutions and Kicking off the New Year!

I have officially made a New Year's Resolution...and I'm going to keep it! I really, really mean it!

I have neglected this photography blog and in turn have neglected Gideon Park Photography with all the things going on in our lives - having a baby, moving across the country...just to name a few minor things that have taken attention away from my passion of photography.

Well - things are gonna change!

Now that we are getting settled in Utah, I'm going to post more so that I can hopefully reach people in this area and let them learn about who I am and what I can do for them...just by posting my images and blogging a little about them. I'll post personal images, images from client sessions as well as some fun stuff.

Hopefully in 6 months....I'll have as many clients here in Utah as I did in Georgia and South Carolina! The thought of that makes me smile!!

One of the things I want to accomplish - for myself as well as my clients - is to document an event, any event, so that the memory of that event is captured forever in photograph. I have found that photographs do help me remember the feeling of that memory....and even jog that memory that I may have forgotten.

So - without further adieu....here are a few images from our day sledding today at Sugar House Park!

Allie got this sweet snow suit for Christmas and today we thought we would give it a test run!

I love this suit....so much....that I kinda want one for myself!!

We hit Sugar House Park and had a BLAST!!! I was a little worried about Allie's reaction, but she LOVED IT!!

This was the first time Allie has really played in the snow.

She's just now learning the word COLD and today reinforced that definition for her!!

She even ate a little snow!!!

By the end...she had so much fun that she passed out before we pulled out of the park! Mission accomplished!

This was a great start to an awesome 2011!

Amanda's Senior Portrait Session

My first shoot in Utah of an actual person who wanted to be photographed and it was beautiful. I am very close to just offering free sessions so I can get out and take pictures!!! I've done a few photo walks with photo clubs here in Utah, but I had fun with this session!

Amanda's family took me in my first week in Utah and let me camp out in their basement...they're basement in PARK CITY - only one of the most beautiful and coolest cities in Utah. Come on - they hold Sundance in Park City!

Amanda also happens to be graduating this year and is currently learning to cope with something well beyond her years...and I couldn't me more in awe of her. Not only is she gorgeous, but she's pretty darn cool too!! The first weekend I was in town, she took me up to Olympic Park to hang out.

So - without further adieu: Here's the ever so lovely, Amanda.

Austin's Senior Portraits...and some of Kayla!!

I've been MIA for a bit. We've relocated. And by we, I mean the whole family now. Brad and Allie joined me this past week. So now that all the drama is over and we're a complete family again - on to pictures!

Austin is probably one of the nicest 17 year olds I know. Super polite, super sweet and super handsome! I photographed Austin and his sister Kayla a while ago to update some family pictures for them. Of course I wanted to do is senior photos for him!

We had to make this a family event and Kayla, his sister, tagged along with us. Seriously - the Wright's are like the picture perfect family. They ARE as nice and sweet as they look!!

And some of the brotherly / sisterly love came out too! I love photographing this family. Pretty soon, I'm going to have get their mom, Kelly, in these photographs too!!

Colin and his family

With our upcoming move, I had to make a quick stop in to see Kathy and her family. Colin has grown so much since the last time I saw him AT THE HOSPITAL! He is such a big boy! He had his eyes open and was talking up a storm when I got there....I'm not quite sure that he's really 8 weeks old. I think Kathy must have her days mixed up! He's already moving and doing so much!!

Big sister, Avery, had to take a quick phone call before she came down to socialize with us!
But after her phone call, she was excited to read her book!
Some quick snuggle time with Daddy and the book!
Kathy has such a beautiful family!
Avery is such a proud big sister! She takes such good care of baby Colin!
And who doesn't love some big 'ole cheese like this one?!

One of my favorites from the day!

I am amazed by mom's who juggle multiple children. I don't see how they do it. I was in awe of Kathy and how she managed to play with Avery and keep Colin happy at the same time!
Avery has the most beautiful blue eyes ever! She was so focused on her toys and so proud of herself for putting the toys together!
Baby Colin was pretty impressed too!
This is by far one of the prettiest toy chests I've seen.

Avery and those eyelashes....
And one of the lasts images from the day...I prompted this one though...I stuck my tongue out first!
